Kerbal space program mun lander10/28/2022 ![]() ![]() I'm willing to chock that one up to user error on my part, since I probably goofed. but the first time something went wrong I thought I had set it to control from both docking ports, but instead it seemed to try to dock using the command module in a highly Freudian but highly ineffectual effort. Maybe I'm doin' it wrong, but I'm pretty sure I got a few rockets to orbit by hand that it struggled with.ĭocking was less stressful with it, of course. I find that it's not actually super-efficient at launch, though. There's definitely stuff it does really well- circularizing orbits, etc. It can be a daunting task at first, but after a few successes and the hand-on learning while getting there, it became easy for me rather quickly. I did my first IP missions sending one-way probes just for the practice of combining matching phase angles and timing longer burns. The closer you are to the proper phase angle, the less fuel you will need to burn to get an encounter. #Kerbal space program mun lander modis a calculator for planetary phase angles, but you'll need an in-game mod to tell you the phase angles, or you can just guess by looking at your map. The most important part of IP travel is waiting for the proper launch window. #Kerbal space program mun lander plusOrbital refueling can be easier, plus it hones your rendezvous skills. You can build a ship that has the D-V to go from launch pad to Duna surface and back again, it'll just be pretty big. Or you can use a mod that calculates it for you. Learning to calculate your rocket's Delta-V at each stage is important for planning. Both Eve and Duna have atmospheres for aerobraking, helping you save fuel when closing your orbit. ![]() You don't need LV-Ns for interplanetary travel, but they do make the most sense by reducing the amount of fuel you need to take with you at the expense of longer burn times. And by easiest in this sense, I mean fuel usage. If you want to come back, Duna is easiest. IIRC, for one-way trips, Eve is the easiest to get to. Where's a good place to start to learn about getting to the further planets? (As in, past Mun and Minmus) I seem to recall it can involve much larger craft, in-orbit refueling, undocking to land, then coming back up and re-docking to a larger ship to make it back home. ![]()
